Superfood of the week: Young Coconut!! 👏👏👏 (my personal favorite!) Coconuts are native to tropical countries where they have been used for hundreds of years to treat health conditions. Coconuts have antimicrobial and antibacterial properties and may be used to treat a range of problems ranging from abscesses and asthma to nausea, skin infections, ulcers, weakness and toothaches. Much of the healing properties in young coconut meat is due to the high amount of lauric acid contained in it. The saturated fat in coconut is largely made up of medium-chain fatty acids, which are better digested than animal fats and used and used by the body to make energy. The fat in coconut can help the body’s immune system and anti-inflammatory response. It also promotes weight loss and maintenance of healthy blood sugar levels. Plus it’s delicious and you can do so many things with it recipe wise!!
